LAST CHANCE TO SEE STARSHINE BURLESQUE @ RIFIFI: THURSDAY, 2/28/8 @ 10:15PM

by John Coakley

where it belongs
RiFiFi’ beloved marquee.

So far the rumors that Rififi is closing have been exaggerated – it is true that noise complaints from curmudgeonly neighbors who should really just move to Staten Island have made the future uncertain, but uncertain means that RiFiFi could be in business for another 50 years. You just don’t know – it’s uncertain.

Having said that, the ladies of Starshine Burlesque will be packin’ the pasties and boxin’ the body glitter and moving down to Lucky Cheng’s next week. So this is your last chance to see them perform where it all began six years ago. Jo Boobs, Delirium Tremens, Creamy Stevens (my favorite – I swear, burlesque performers are like Beatles) and others will all be doing their thing in a cozy, performer-friendly bar, the kind that is getting harder and harder to find in Manhattan. The future is uncertain, so you should go.

Ms. Stevens: girl in a bubble.
