Health People’s Authors and Artists Celebration at the American Hotel in Sag Harborby Edward Callaghan
This winter we happened upon the Health People‘s Authors and Artists Celebration, held at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. This organization, which supports South Bronx families ravaged by HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes, held a winter fete to raise money for its’ worthy cause.
Chris Norwood, Executive Director, was toasted by celebrities such as April Gornik and Eric Fischl, E. L. Doctorow and Helen Henslee, Nora Ephron and Nick Pileggi, Barry Sonnenfeld and Susan Ringo, Mary Jane Marcasiano and Ralph Gibson, Nicole Miller and Kim Taipale, and Cindy Sherman.
Ted Conklin, proprietor of the landmark hotel generously donated private dining rooms, wines, champagne, filet mignon, smoked salmon and a variety of wonderful food for the event. Concert pianist Andrew Wargo entertained the guests with Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Johnny Mercer tunes.
